We have had a lot going on lately and it doesn't look like it will change for May. I just returned from 2 conferences in High Point, NC. I had to miss the double header soccer day, but Colton's team did well. They won both games, so in the last two seasons they have only lost one game and that was by one point. His last game is this Saturday at 11:15. Then, he will have his end-of-the-season party.
After that, Matt is leaving for his annual fishing trip with his cousin Casey in WV. He is very excited to get up there! I have my scrapbooking for a cure on Sunday (all the money goes to Relay).
Then, we will have Relay for Life May 16-17. If anyone would like to donate there is time to do so!!!!!
The following weekend is the Wrangler soccer tournament in Greensboro. Then, Colton has Challenge soccer tryouts on that Tuesday. Colton then will play in a 3 vs 3 tournament in Chapel Hill May 31-June 1. Matt is asst. coach with all of Colton's teams (along with other teams). It is great to see Matt coaching. He does a great job with it and really enjoys it. The kids seem to really like him out there as well.
Other than that, we still have practices, school, work and life!!!! It sounds busy, but we love it. It is nice to be able to do all of this as a family. If not, I do not think we would do it.
If anyone would like to go to any of these things, please let us know. Colton likes to have "fans" in the crowd!!!

Wall Picture
Colton received his 3 foot picture of himself on Saturday (actually when Colton measured it the picture was 2'7"). When we watch pro soccer on TV they always advertise these wall pics and when we checked they were like $150+. When we saw that these were offered through the sports section for a much lower cost, we decided to buy one. It looks really cool on his wall. He and Matt decided that it would look neat on the wall above his bed. It is nice because you can move it if you need to and it doesn't take off the paint.
By the way, Colton's soccer team lost their first game. They hadn't lost in the last 14 games. They lost by one point at the very last second of the game. Oh well! Colton had a good game though. Update: Colton will be playing in Greensboro for one of his tournaments on Memorial Day weekend in case anyone would like to come and watch.

ANTS
Colton received a really cool ant farm from his Mamaw Bets and Papaw Russ for Christmas. It is made of this gel like material that scientists developed for ants to be able to go into outer space (why-I have no clue-I really don't know the benefits of ants in space). We mailed off for the ants and it took about 6 weeks to receive the Harvester ants. They arrived in a tube and Matt was designated the job of opening the tube and putting them into the container. Only one died in transport.
Let me tell you...they are the COOLEST things. It is really interesting to watch them dig, work together, move the dead one all around the ant farm, etc. We like trying to guess where they will build their next tunnel. We have really enjoyed our (Colton's) new pets.
Now they have sent Colton a frog habitat that is going to be really cool too. It is going to be interesting to watch them develop from tadpoles to frogs. We will keep you posted. We mailed off for the eggs and probably receive them in 6 weeks like the ants.

PTO Performance
Colton performed a patriotic performance with the third grade students. It was a really nice program. They recognized all of the active and prior military in the audience and sang a lot of the patriotic songs. It was for the 1st-3rd grades. It was a very nice night.

Colton's masterpiece that he and his dad made.
Straight A's
Colton received his report card this week and the results were great!!!! He received the following grades:
Reading: 96
Language: 93
Spelling: 99
Math: 95
Science/Health: 97
Social Studies: 97
We were very proud of him. He received a free sundae/milkshake from Applebees for his grades, so we went there for his celebratory dinner.
I guess this means that skipping a day of school for the wrestling match in Fayetteville didn't hurt him too bad.
